Founded in 1575, Leiden University is the oldest university in the Netherlands. It was ranked as the top Dutch university and 64th best university in the world by the U.K.'s Times Higher Education World University Rankings. The school's Sinological Institute Library is the only Chinese library in the Netherlands. Its collection, comprising Chinese books from around the world, is the biggest among all Chinese libraries in Europe. Leiden University has nine colleges, more than 50 departments and more than 150 undergraduate programs. It is also home to over 40 national and international-class research institutes.
